2012 White & Case South Africa Jessup Competition

A team from South Africa first competed in the Jessup in 1979, but the Jessup became more popular in the 1990s with the first national competition. The quality of teams has improved each year with the University of Witwatersrand winning the Jessup World Championship in 2002.

The White & Case South Africa Jessup Competition represents both the beginning and end of different aspects of the Jessup. They mark the conclusion of many months of preparation by the competing teams filled with research, legal arguments and countless hours of perfecting mooting skills. They are also the beginning of what many will regard as the pinnacle of the Jessup - the demanding oral rounds of the White & Case South Africa Jessup.

The White & Case South Africa Jessup is also an important stepping-stone for the Jessup team that advances to represent South Africa at the White & Case International Rounds, or Jessup World Championships, held in Washington DC on 25-31 March 2012.
