2011 Georgia Jessup Competition

A team from Georgia first competed in the Jessup in 1997 with the first National Georgia Jessup Competition taking place in 2000. Since then, teams from Georgia have competed every year and a team from Tbilisi State Unviersity advanced to the top six at the International Rounds in 2001.

The Georgia Jessup Competition is organized each year by a group of volunteers, former Jessup participants who recognize the importance of Jessup and how it can benefit a legal career. Members of this team serve as national administrators, judges, coaches and bailiffs.

The Jessup Competition is very important to the participating students in Georgia as it is often the only exposure they have to a western style of legal education. Participating in the Jessup Competition often marks students for future success in their legal careers. Many former Jessup competitors have gone on to work in prestigious places in the public and private sectors in Georgia.

White & Case recognizes the importance of the Jessup for developing legal writing, oral advocacy skills, teamwork abilities and substantive knowledge of international law. The Firm is proud to sponsor the Georgia Jessup Competition and play a role in the training of legal leaders of tomorrow.
